Hero Campaign Assets for Google Store APAC + India


Background

Google Store is Google's retail platform for Pixel smartphones, wearables, and smart home devices. Working with PHQ, I contributed to concept development and technical execution of animated hero visuals for major marketing campaigns across the Asian Pacific and India.

The work showcased below represents key campaigns for the Australian and Indian markets. Additional projects remain under NDA due to partnership agreements.


India direct-to-consumer launch

In 2025, Google began selling Pixel phones directly to consumers in India for the first time through the Google Store website. Previously, Pixel devices were only available via third‑party retailers, making this campaign a key milestone in the expansion of the Pixel brand in the Indian market.

I was part of the team that developed the animation, serving as the hero asset for the Google Store homepage. Style frames were created by team member Nick Peak, and I executed the animation.

The key design challenge was maintaining the sleek, premium Pixel brand while appealing to India's vibrant culture. Market research found that local audiences preferred bold colour palettes and ornate design elements, so it was important to strike the right balance.

Early concepts explored Mandala and Rangoli patterns. The team worked closely with our Indian cultural representative, Akshay, to ensure authenticity and appropriateness. The final design retained the colourful and vibrant approach while moving away from explicit cultural symbols to better align with the Pixel brand aesthetic.


Australia EOFY '25

Google Store Australia starts its annual EOFY sale in June. PHQ was tasked with adapting the global/US summer-focused campaign for the Southern Hemisphere.

We retained the global campaign's core creative concept, while developing unique animations and region-specific assets - such as a cooler colour palette to evoke winter. The concept was collaborative, and I executed the final animation.


ICC Women’s World Cup '25

Google Store India partnered with the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup for a cross-promotional campaign. PHQ managed the delivery of site assets and merchandise for the event. I designed and animated the hero asset for the campaign.

This project highlighted Pixel's photographic capabilities to connect fans with the action. Using abstracted UI, we demonstrated how Pixel's ProRes zoom feature enhances the viewing experience. The concept centred on capturing images of fans in the stadium to emphasise the event's energy and excitement.


Additional contributions

Beyond animating and designing site hero assets, I have contributed to the development of direct‑response creatives, including web banners, social media ads, and YouTube end cards. This work has involved adapting assets from Google’s global campaigns as well as creating new static and animated content for multiple APAC markets, including Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore, and most recently, India.
